The nest photos below were taken quite hastily when we flushed a male Wilson's Phalarope off a nest at the Nature Conservancy, Kankakee Sands property in Newton County. The male immediately went into a "broken wing" display. We found the nest within 30 seconds, and quickly took the three photos. We backed away to about 100 feet to see if the male would return. He did and immediately resumed incubation. A moment later, the female pictured below landed nearby.
